Five Star Swing have been up to Norwich for the 2nd concert in the “Swing Time” tour. This took place at a fantastic converted church called the Maddermarket Theatre. I’ve put some video on FaceBook for you to have a look at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1474518559

Also there’s a behind the scenes look at a Royal British Legion gig in Rayleigh on the same link. Here we are getting ready for 1940s WW2 night playing Glenn Miller Dame Vera Lynn plus some strict tempo dance music…

Daniel Smith is just finishing off the mixing of our new album “The Big Band” – which is full of Vintage swing – instrumental and vocals from Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Count Basie and even the 1958 Carry On Film signature tune – Ted Heath band style!!

Five Star Swing were very pleased to have been selected for the first Strictly Come Dancing event last week at Widnes Stadium. The dance floor was packed with modern ballroom and formation dancers with further events being planned.

Performing this weekend at a wedding in Kensington.

Five Star Swing performed their new show “Swing Time” at the famous Stockport Plaza Theatre last night. What a wonderful “Art Deco” theatre with the original Organ! See the video at  https://www.facebook.com/fivestarswing/videos/10155841416154319/

Great Vintage gig!  1920s 1930s 1940s to 1950s !

Big Band Swing was the big event planned for the Potters Holidays Resort at Hopton on Sea, Great Yarmouth and very please to say that our Five Star Swing musicians were booked as our other name band – “String of Pearls” Big Band. This was the band run by my late father, Chris Smith (senior) who was featured trombonist to Frank Sinatra and the Ted Heath Orchestra, plus Tom Jones, Jack Parnell for all the Morecambe and Wise TV shows…  We all had a great time performing at Potters for a lovely audience that enjoyed dancing to the more Strict Tempo numbers – Waltz, Fox-Trot, Quick-Step, etc’. There’s some nice edited video on www.facebook/fivestarswing.co.uk

Hello Everybody!

At last – here’s our second blog… been touring quite hard with the Big Band Show and private dance gigs over the past couple of weeks. We created a great Swing Party atmosphere for a wedding at the Millennium Hotel, Kensington playing dance music from 1920s, 1930s, 1940s and even 1950s & 1960s…as the bride and groom wanted to keep every age group on the dance floor and the Millennium conservatory was certainly buzzing that night with dance music from the Charleston, Glenn Miller, Sinatra, Bill Haley and even Motown!!

Five Star Swing were booked to play at two wedding anniversaries in the Norfolk area playing Jazz and Big Band music – many thanks to our clients who really looked after us well – see videos on  www.facebook.com/fivestarswing/

Weston-Super-Mare featured The Big Band – with Five Star Swing last week with  great audience response. Hope to be back next year – (audience  – please let management know you would like us back!)
